Warmer Corners - Rayban Party

This Weeks Artist: Warmer Corners
Track Sampled: Rayban Party
Genre: Folk-Tinged Experimental Pop

So, what did I think?

I think they should be called the mystery men because I cannot find ANY info on this band! I know that they are a UK band, and I’ve found the names of their members but that is about it… I will be writing them on Facebook so hopefully they will update their stuff in the near future. Anyways, this song is rather short and is compiled of some interesting lyrics divulged through drone-like vocals. Along with its choppy harsh guitar this tune is wacky, fresh and kind of odd, so love it or hate it but I find their whole album oh-so-intriguing. Give it a listen, share it with your friends and just enjoy it! One more thing, the video for their song The Tiger’s Lament (http://vimeo.com/36872125) is artful, full of whimsy and above all else entertaining, so check that out too!

The Fallows - We Are the Hunted

This Weeks Artist: The Fallows
Track Sampled: We Are the Hunted
Genre: Acoustic Indie Folk

So, what did I think?

I think this Coventry, UK group has definitely got it going on. Between the singers soulful voice and the perfectly placed fiddle, their powerful lyrics ring out and demand attention from all within earshot. I have listened to their entire debut album Face the Wolves, and I have to say I am quite impressed. They have hints of the almost typically rowdy Brit-tune but it is wrapped up in strummy, subtle guitars and every ounce of folky acoustic goodness that I was searching for to include in this weeks post. I was pleasantly surprised and I hope you will be too. Enjoy!

The Soft Pack - Answer to Yourself

This Weeks Artist: The Soft Pack
Track Sampled: Answer to Yourself
Genre: Indie-Pop

So, what did I think?

San Diego spawned this week's band 'The Soft Pack', yet despite having released several albums under a variety of labels, they seem to remain widely unknown, which is very disappointing considering the fact that they are actually quite good. I instantly fell in love with this track, so much in fact that after my first listen I headed straight to iTunes and purchased the album. Something about this punk-flavored, beachy-feel tune is infectious. The lyrics to this track are, in their own quirky way, dishing out a dose of self-empowerment with lines such as ‘you got a talent don't you know?
You're more talented than you know,
And you give it a shot,
And give it the time,
And be surprised how far it goes.’ Answer to Yourself has definitely won a place on my everyday soundtrack, hopefully you will like it as much as I have and will spread the word! Enjoy!

Long Distance Runners - Election Day

This Weeks Artist: Long Distance Runners
Track Sampled: Election Day
Genre: Alternative Indie Rock

So, what did I think?

I really enjoyed this bands funky/vintage/unique sound. This band is quickly gaining popularity in Canada and their fan base has been slowing creeping over the border into the United States. The guitars in this track remind me of an almost mid-70's post-psychadelic tune from one of the popular bands of that era.
